A Winter's Night Wedding

"Brew me a cup for a winter's night.
For the wind howls loud and the furies fight;
Spice it with love & stir it with care,
And I'll toast our bright eyes,
My sweetheart fair."
-Minna Thomas Antrim

Winter loosened it's icy grip on the St. Croix Valley. The winter thaw we've all been longing for finally arrived on Saturday, when a beautiful winter wedding reception was held in the Stillwater Public Library's Margaret Rivers Room. This wedding was a celebration of everything wholesome, warm, and comforting. Gold tones and shades of burgundy & brown blended perfectly with with chocolate truffles, roses, raspberry and champagne to create a warming trend all their own.
A buffet of comfort foods including turkey, roast beef, gravy, potatoes au gratin, caramelized carrots with parsley, and artisan bread satisfied the palate, while heartfelt toasts warmed the soul.
Dessert was the highlight of the evening. Two wedding cakes were displayed in the gallery area of the Stillwater Public Library; a Norwegian Kransekake, and a 2-tiered, buttercream frosted cake made by the bride. After dinner the cake cutting was held, and in addition to the display cakes, generous portions of chocolate truffle torte and white chocolate cranberry torte - covered in rich chocolate shavings - were also served.
The Library's new audio/visual system was put to the test and performed well. Many thanks to Tom at Johnny's TV who made a special trip to the Library on Friday to finish the installation. One of the bride's many brothers prepared a slide show, and dinner music was provided by an iPod, a quarter inch audio jack was the only adapter needed.
Check back for more pictures of this wedding once the professional photography comes in - I'm especially looking forward to the nighttime pictures by Lance Wilson, and the candids by Tasha Isberner. Check out Tasha's pictures of kids here, she's only 19! I think she's got an amazing talent for children's portraits. Special thanks to Kane's catering, who made a valiant effort to recycle everything, and kept our serving kitchen clean! Unfortunately, Kane's is not on our approved caterer list due to their location. If you are in the planning stages of your wedding, check out the other people & places that were a part of this event:

Floral Design: Andrea Isaak
Rehearsal Dinner: Tria
Wedding Ceremony: Northwestern College
