Events at Stillwater Public Library are required by Stillwater City Code to end all amplified music by 10 PM. In order to have music past 10 PM, each bride & groom must individually request a variance from the City Council, and attend the meeting at which it is considered. The first variance request for 2009 went before the City Council on January 20th. You can read the article from the Stillwater Gazette. The variance was denied with a future discussion scheduled for February 3rd.
More commentary to follow, but please let me know what you think! If no music was allowed outdoors past 10 pm, would you still book the library? What compromises can be made? Neighbors, what has your experience been with outdoor events at the library?
